What UK traders' reviews of IC Markets say, and what they cannot tell you.

IC Markets (now trading as IC) has one of the strongest review profiles of any forex broker. At the time of writing its Trustpilot page for icmarkets.com shows a score of around 4.8 out of 5 from roughly 56,700 reviews. Most praise is for fast live chat, low raw spreads and the choice of MT4, MT5 and cTrader. The complaints that do appear cluster around slow templated email replies, verification delays and withdrawals held for compliance checks. None of that changes the fact that matters most to a UK reader: IC is not authorised by the FCA, so there is no Financial Ombudsman or FSCS behind the account however good the reviews are.

What the review numbers show

A score near 4.8 from tens of thousands of reviews is unusual in the CFD industry, where many firms sit much lower. Figures move as new reviews arrive, so treat them as a snapshot. The volume matters as much as the average: a profile with that many reviews is harder to skew with a handful of fake entries than one with a few hundred.

Volume has its own caveat. Brokers are allowed to invite customers to review them, typically after a deposit or a support chat, and invited reviews tend to be short and positive. That is not the same as fake, and Trustpilot flags invited reviews. It does mean the average reflects people who have just had a good interaction, rather than a balanced sample of long-term clients or those who lost money.

There is no UK-only view of the reviews. Trustpilot shows each reviewer's country, but the profile covers every market IC serves. The experience of a trader in a country where IC holds a local licence may differ from that of a UK resident onboarded by the Seychelles entity.

What traders praise

  • Live chat. The most frequent positive theme is quick, helpful answers on chat, often within minutes.
  • Raw pricing. Traders on Raw accounts praise tight spreads on major pairs, with IC quoting an EUR/USD average of about 0.1 pips on Raw plus commission.
  • Platform choice. MT4, MT5, cTrader and TradingView through cTrader Raw all appear, with cTrader users in particular valuing the depth-of-market view.
  • Routine withdrawals. Plenty of reviewers mention withdrawals that simply arrived, which is the outcome most people never write about.

Those strengths are real, and they are why FX Recap and many other sites rate IC well on cost and execution. Our IC Markets review covers pricing and platforms in detail.

What traders complain about

Negative reviews form a small share of the total, but they repeat. The first theme is email support. Several reviewers describe the chat as fast and the email desk as slow and templated, with the same stock reply sent back to a detailed question. That becomes a problem when an issue needs a paper trail, such as a disputed trade or a withdrawal query.

The second theme is verification and account reviews. Reviewers report being asked for documents again after the account was already approved, sometimes when they request a withdrawal. The third is withdrawal holds. On the Elite Trader forum, threads from November 2025 describe withdrawals taking over a week, with repeated compliance questions about the source of funds before the money was released. These are individual accounts we cannot verify, but they match the pattern in the negative reviews.

Execution complaints, such as slippage around news, also turn up, as they do for every broker. Slippage on a fast market is normal; it only signals a problem if it is consistently in one direction. You can check your own fills in the MT4, MT5 or cTrader history.

If you use IC, keep every support conversation in writing. Copy chat transcripts, and follow up important points by email so there is a dated record. Without a UK ombudsman, your own records are your main evidence in any dispute.

Why a good review score says nothing about protection

A review score measures how customers felt about service and pricing. It does not measure what happens if something goes wrong at a firm level. For a UK resident, those protections come from the FCA regime, and IC sits outside it.

Does the FCA consider the firm safe to deal with?NoFCA Warning List: entry against IC Markets Global

The FCA warning says IC Markets Global is not authorised and may be targeting people in the UK, and that UK customers won't have access to the Ombudsman or the FSCS. Thousands of five-star reviews do not alter that. The two things can be true at once: a firm can give good day-to-day service and still leave a UK client with no UK route to redress. Our explainer on IC, the FSCS and the Ombudsman goes through it, and the FCA warning explained covers what an existing account holder should do about it.

Watch out for review profiles that are not IC's

Review sites list firms by domain, and several names close to IC Markets exist. The FCA has published a clone warning about fakes copying IC Markets (EU) Ltd, using domains such as icmarketpro.com and icm-market.com, and a separate warning about "ICMARKET" at icapitalmarket.net. As for icmarkets.co.uk, it is a parked domain for sale and has nothing to do with IC.

When you read reviews, check that the profile's domain is the one you are dealing with, which since 11 July 2026 is ic.com (icmarkets.com redirects to it). A glowing profile for a look-alike domain tells you nothing about IC, and a clone firm may point to the real firm's reviews to borrow its reputation. Our guide to IC Markets clones and scams lists the known fakes.

How to use reviews sensibly

Sort reviews by most recent and read the one- and two-star entries, not the average. Look for the same problem described by different people over several months, since that is a pattern rather than a bad day. Check how the firm replies: a specific answer that names a fix is more useful than a copied apology.

Then set the reviews aside and check the things they cannot tell you. Look the firm up on the FCA Register, read the client agreement to see which company you are contracting with and which country's law applies, and find the firm's published loss percentage. For IC, the Seychelles entity publishes none.

Posts offering to recover money from IC, or any broker, for an upfront fee are a known scam. Genuine help for UK consumers is free through the Financial Ombudsman for authorised firms, and fraud can be reported to Report Fraud on 0300 123 2040.

Illustrative case: Stuart, 35, Leicester

Stuart picked IC after reading hundreds of five-star reviews and seeing the Raw pricing. For eight months everything went smoothly: chat answered in minutes and two card withdrawals came back within a week. His third withdrawal, £6,000 by bank wire, triggered a request for bank statements showing where his deposits had come from. He sent them the same day, heard nothing by email for four days, then received a second request for a payslip. The money arrived 12 days after he asked for it. Nothing was lost, but Stuart realised that had the firm refused, he had no ombudsman to turn to. He now keeps his larger balance with an FCA-authorised broker and a small account at IC for cTrader.

Frequently asked

What is IC Markets' Trustpilot rating?

At the time of writing, the icmarkets.com profile shows around 4.8 out of 5 from about 56,700 reviews. Figures change as new reviews come in. The profile is global, not UK-specific, and many reviews are invited by the broker after an interaction.

What do traders complain about most at IC Markets?

The recurring themes are slow, templated email support, verification and account-review delays, and withdrawals held while compliance questions are answered. Forum threads from November 2025 describe withdrawals taking over a week with repeated questions about source of funds.

Is IC Markets safe because it has good reviews?

Reviews measure service and pricing, not legal protection. For UK residents IC is not authorised by the FCA, and the FCA's warning says UK customers won't have access to the Financial Ombudsman or FSCS. A high score does not change that.

Do UK traders like IC Markets?

Reviewers praise its chat support and raw spreads. One set-up some traders describe is a small IC account for cTrader or pricing, with larger balances at an FCA firm. We did not find reliable data on UK-only satisfaction, so treat any such claim cautiously.

Are all IC Markets reviews about the real firm?

Not necessarily. Clone firms use look-alike domains such as icmarketpro.com and icm-market.com, and icmarkets.co.uk is an unrelated parked domain. Check that any review profile relates to ic.com or icmarkets.com before trusting it.

Should I trust a review that says IC Markets is FCA regulated?

No. IC has no FCA authorisation, and the FCA’s Warning List names its offshore arm, including ic.com. Reviews repeating the "FCA regulated" line are usually out of date or copied from elsewhere. Treat that error as a sign the reviewer never checked the Register, and weigh the rest of what they say accordingly.

Are IC Markets withdrawals slow?

Many withdrawals arrive within the normal window: 3–5 business days for cards and up to 14 days for international wires. Delays reported online usually involve compliance reviews, which can add a week or more.
