Ten weighted factors combine into a single score out of 100. The heavier the weight, the more it shapes the final award.

About Our MethodologyFrequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about the FX Recap Broker Awards: how we test brokers, how winners are picked, and how to use the results.
What are the FX Recap Broker Awards?
They're our yearly pick of the best Forex brokers. They go to the brokers that did best when we tested and scored them.
It isn't a popularity contest. Every broker is scored on 10 things that matter most, led by regulation and safety (20%), how happy real users are (15%), and trading costs (13%). A broker only wins if the score is high enough.
We'll be honest with you: some brokers we cover are affiliate partners. That never buys a spot on the list. The score decides, not the partnership.
How do you decide who wins?
We look at each broker the way a real trader would. We open accounts and use them, so we can see how deposits, withdrawals, spreads, and order speed really hold up over time.
We also check that each broker is properly licensed, straight from the regulators themselves. That includes the FCA in the UK, ASIC in Australia, CySEC in Cyprus, and the CFTC and NFA in the US.
Then we add in feedback from verified traders. All of it goes into the same 10-point score, and the highest scores win. There are no hand-picked favourites.
Are the awards paid for or biased?
No. A broker can't pay to win, and it can't pay to move up the list.
We do earn a commission from some brokers through affiliate links. That's how the site stays free to use. But those links have no effect on the scores. We've put non-partners above partners many times, and we've left partners off the list when they didn't earn a place.
Our scoring method is public, so you can always check how we got there.
What categories do you award?
As well as the overall ranking, we point out brokers that are great at one thing in particular. Think best for beginners, lowest trading costs, best platform, best mobile app, and best support.
The exact list can change from year to year as the market changes, so the current categories always live on the awards page itself.
Can I trust a winning broker with my money?
A win is a strong sign that a broker did well in our tests, but it isn't a promise. Every winner passes our safety and regulation checks. Even so, your own experience can depend on where you live and which account you pick.
So treat the awards as a shortlist, not a replacement for your own checks. Here is what we suggest:
Start small. Put in a little money first and try the broker yourself.
Read the full review. It tells you a lot more than the award alone.
Check the licence. Confirm it directly with the regulator.
And remember that Forex trading is risky. Only trade money you can afford to lose, no matter how good a broker looks.
How often are the awards updated?
We do the full review once a year, so each award covers a broker's performance over a complete 12 months.
We also keep watching in between. If a broker has a regulation problem, or its service clearly gets worse, we'll change or remove the award right away instead of waiting for next year.
Do the awards apply everywhere?
Not always in the same way. A broker's features, fees, and even its regulator can change from one country to the next. Some perks only apply to certain account types, too.
When it matters, we say which regions and accounts an award covers. So it's always worth checking the details for your own country in the full review.
What if I disagree with a result?
That's fair. Every trader values different things, and your experience really helps us.
If a winning broker treated you well or badly, tell us through the contact form or on that broker's review page. We read what comes in, look into anything that shows a pattern, and use it in the next round of scoring.
Can brokers nominate themselves?
No. There is no application and no nomination. We pick which brokers to test based on how useful they are to everyday traders, and the score takes over from there.
If you think we've missed one worth covering, send it to us through the contact form and we'll add it to the list to review.
Where can I see the full details on a winner?
Every winner has its own review on FX Recap with the full story: how it scored on each point, the honest pros and cons, the real costs (spreads, commissions, and fees), a look at the platforms, and its licensing and client protection.
Just click any broker on the awards page, or put a few side by side with our comparison tool.
I'm new to trading. How should I use these awards?
If you're just starting out, treat the awards as a safe shortlist, not a “buy now” button. They point you to brokers that are well regulated and easy to start with, which takes a lot of the guesswork out of your first choice.
Before you add any money, open a demo account and get comfortable. Then start with a small real deposit you're fine risking. Use the beginner-friendly picks, and read the full review so the fees and platform don't surprise you.
Most of all, learn the basics of risk first. Forex can move fast, and no award changes the fact that you can lose money.
How is this different from other “best broker” lists?
A lot of “top broker” lists are really paid spots dressed up as a ranking. Ours are not. Brokers can't buy a place, and the order comes from a clear, weighted score you can see for yourself.
We test brokers hands-on instead of copying their spec sheets. We give regulation and safety the most weight, and we're open about the affiliate links that keep the site free. If a broker does poorly, it drops down the list, partner or not.
