Tickmill deposits at a glance.

The minimum deposit at Tickmill is 100, and it is the same for every account type. Classic, Raw and TradingView Raw all list a starting deposit of 100, with a note that the figure may vary depending on your base currency. Wallets can be held in US dollars, euros, pounds or South African rand.

Tickmill charges no commission on deposits. Cards, e-wallets and crypto payments are credited instantly or within a working day, and bank wires take two to seven working days to arrive. One perk stands out: a single bank wire of USD 5,000 or more qualifies for a refund of your bank's transfer fees, up to USD 100.

The wallet system

Money at Tickmill goes into a wallet first, not straight into a trading account. You choose the wallet to fund, deposit into it, then move money to a trading account inside the Client Area. Withdrawals leave from the wallet too, in the wallet's base currency.

That extra step has a practical use. You can keep spare cash in the wallet and transfer only what a strategy needs into the trading account. Money left in the wallet isn't exposed to a margin call. Tickmill processes payments only in EUR, GBP, ZAR and USD, so a deposit from any other currency is converted by your bank or e-wallet on the way in.

The Zero Fees Policy

Banks charge for international transfers, and those charges usually fall on the sender. Tickmill offers to cover them on larger wires. Deposit USD 5,000 or the equivalent in one bank wire transaction, email a copy of your bank statement or other proof to support, and Tickmill reimburses the transaction fees up to USD 100 within one calendar month of the deposit.

  • The deposit must be a single bank wire of at least USD 5,000 or equivalent.
  • You have to send proof of the fee; nothing is refunded automatically.
  • Refunds are capped at USD 100.
  • Smaller wires, and other payment methods, are outside the policy.

A footnote on the same page deserves equal attention. Tickmill reserves the right to charge an inactivity fee under its terms and conditions where an account shows no trading activity. The amount isn't given on the public page, so check the terms if you plan to leave money idle.

Rules on who can pay

Every deposit must come from a payment method in your own name. Third-party payments are not accepted. For card deposits, Tickmill may ask for documentation of the card, and it can request proof of the source of your funds under anti-money-laundering rules.

One reassurance is worth repeating to anyone new. Tickmill says it will never ask for your full card number, CVV code or PIN. A message asking for those details is a fraud attempt, and the broker asks you to report it to support.

How you deposit decides how you withdraw. Card deposits are returned to the same card first, so think about the way out before you choose the way in.

When a card deposit fails

Tickmill lists four things to check when a card payment doesn't go through: the details were typed correctly, the card is valid and in date, enough funds are available, and your bank allows online trading transactions. That last one is the usual culprit. Many banks block payments to brokers until you ask them not to.

If the problem continues, Tickmill suggests another payment method or a call to your card issuer. An e-wallet funded from your bank account is often the simplest workaround.

Is $100 enough to trade?

It is enough to start, with care. At the smallest trade of 0.01 lots, a pip on EUR/USD is worth about 10 cents. A 20-pip stop risks about $2, which is 2% of a $100 account. That is double the 1% many traders use as a ceiling.

Is $100 enough to trade?. $100: About $2: 2%; $200: About $2: 1%; $500: About $2: 0.4%; $1,000: About $2: 0.2%

Two hundred dollars is where the smallest position meets a 1% risk rule. With $100 you can still trade responsibly by using tighter stops or accepting 2% risk and trading less often. What you can't do is trade 0.10 lots, where one ordinary loss takes a fifth of the account.

Tickmill also has a way to trade live with no deposit at all. Its $30 Welcome Account gives new clients of the Seychelles company a small funded account to test conditions. Our Tickmill Welcome Account guide explains the limits on withdrawing its profits.

How to deposit, step by step

  1. Log in to the Client Area and select Deposit from the wallet panel.
  2. Choose the wallet you want to fund.
  3. Pick a method: bank wire, card, crypto payments, Skrill, Neteller or UnionPay.
  4. Enter an amount of at least 100 and complete the payment with the provider.
  5. Check Transaction History, then transfer funds to your trading account.

You need a verified profile first, which our Tickmill account opening guide covers. For the way out, see the Tickmill withdrawal guide.

Wire of more than $5,000 planned? Keep the bank's fee advice. Tickmill needs proof of the charge to refund up to $100.

Receipts matter more than people expect. Save the confirmation for each deposit with its date, amount and reference. Support needs it to trace a missing payment, the Zero Fees Policy needs it as proof, and you may need it yourself if your bank or tax office asks where the money went.

First deposits also set a pattern. Whatever method you choose now becomes the route your withdrawals take, so pick one you expect to keep using for years, not the one that happens to be convenient today.

A flat $100 across all accounts is easy to understand, and I like that the Raw account doesn't cost more to enter. The wallet is underrated. Leave part of your money there and a bad day in the trading account can't reach it.

Illustrative case: Thabo, 31, Pretoria

Thabo opened a ZAR wallet so his rand deposits wouldn't be converted. He funded the equivalent of about $250 by card, moved $150 into a Raw trading account and left the rest in the wallet. When a losing week took $40 from the trading account, the wallet balance was untouched.
