RoboForex Crypto Trading: Bitcoin CFDs 24/7, Leverage and Accounts
RoboForex offers crypto CFDs on Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, Solana, Dogecoin and Cardano, traded 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Bitcoin and Ethereum carry leverage up to 1:500, the others 1:50, and crypto isn't swap-free. Here is how RoboForex crypto trading works.
RoboForex offers CFDs on six cryptocurrencies: Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, Solana, Dogecoin and Cardano. Its crypto page says they trade 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, including weekends and public holidays, so you can react to news at any hour. Because they're CFDs, you trade price movements without owning coins, so there's no wallet, private key or blockchain transfer to manage.
Which coins you can trade depends on your account type, and the leverage differs sharply between the two largest coins and the rest.

RoboForex says leverage on other crypto CFDs may differ according to the contract specifications. At 1:500, a $10,000 Bitcoin position needs $20 of margin; at 1:50, the same exposure to Solana needs $200. Our RoboForex leverage guide covers the wider rules.
Costs
- The spread on each coin, shown in the contract specifications.
- Commission on ECN accounts, charged per million traded.
- Overnight swaps; RoboForex says swap-free isn't available for crypto CFDs.
- Rebates don't apply, since they are calculated only on currencies and metals.
Weekend trading
Because crypto trades through the weekend at RoboForex, you can manage positions when other markets are closed, which avoids the Monday gaps you get at brokers that close crypto on Fridays. The flip side is that positions stay exposed all weekend. Keep stops in place and check margin before Friday evening, when RoboForex reduces 1:2000 leverage to 1:1000 on Pro and ProCent for two hours.
Placing a crypto trade
- Open a Pro, ProCent or ECN account on MT4 or MT5, or use the RoboForex Trading Platform.
- Find the crypto symbol in Market Watch or the platform's search.
- Size the trade from your stop loss.
- Add a stop loss and, if you use one, a take profit.
- Plan for swaps if you will hold overnight.
CFDs or buying coins?
| RoboForex crypto CFD | Buying coins | |
|---|---|---|
| Ownership | No | Yes |
| Wallet | Not needed | Needed |
| Short selling | Yes | Rarely |
| Leverage | Up to 1:500 | Usually none |
| Overnight cost | Swaps | None for holding |
Sizing crypto trades
Crypto moves several percent in a day, so position size matters even more than on currencies. Start from your stop: if Bitcoin is at $84,000 and your stop is $2,000 away, a position worth $8,400 loses about $200 if the stop is hit. Size the trade so that figure is a small share of your account.
High leverage makes oversizing easy. At 1:500, an $8,400 Bitcoin position needs under $17 of margin, which can tempt traders into much bigger trades than their account can absorb.
Swaps on crypto
Because crypto CFDs aren't swap-free at RoboForex, holding them overnight costs money, shown in each symbol's contract specification. For trades of a few days this is minor; for positions held for weeks it adds up. Check the long and short swap before planning a longer crypto trade.
Choosing the right account
If crypto is central to your trading, Pro or ProCent give access to all six coins with no commission. ECN offers only Bitcoin and Ethereum, but with raw spreads plus commission, which can suit active Bitcoin traders. Prime has no crypto at all, so don't open it if you want coins.
Why trade crypto as CFDs
RoboForex lists several reasons to trade crypto as CFDs rather than buying coins: you can go short as easily as long, you don't need to set up a wallet or manage private keys, and you can trade crypto alongside currencies and metals from one account. You also use leverage, which buying coins outright usually doesn't allow.
The trade-offs are that you never own the coins, you pay swaps to hold positions overnight, and leverage magnifies losses as much as gains. For traders who want short-term exposure to price moves, CFDs fit well; for long-term holders, owning coins directly may suit better.
Crypto and the weekend leverage cut
On Pro and ProCent accounts, RoboForex reduces 1:2000 leverage to 1:1000 between 23:00 Friday and 01:00 Saturday EET. Crypto itself is capped at 1:500 for Bitcoin and Ethereum and 1:50 for the others, but the account-wide change still affects margin on any currency or metal positions you hold alongside crypto, which can lower your account's margin level just as crypto trading continues through the weekend.
Managing a 24/7 position
Because crypto never stops, set price alerts in MobileTrader or MetaTrader so you hear about large moves away from your screen, and keep stops on every position. Check your margin level before you sleep or leave for the weekend.
Crypto prices can move faster than any currency pair, especially at weekends when fewer traders are active. A stop placed at a sensible distance, with a position sized from it, is the most important tool you have.
Before trading any coin, open its contract specification to see the leverage, spread and swap that apply to your account type.
RoboForex's 24/7 crypto is a real advantage over brokers that close on weekends. But 1:500 on Bitcoin is a lot of rope; most traders should use a fraction of it and size from the stop.
Carlos traded Bitcoin on a RoboForex Pro account over a weekend when a regulatory headline hit on Sunday. Because the market was open, his stop closed the trade at a small loss instead of gapping on Monday.
