RoboForex Demo Account: Pro, ECN and R StocksTrader Demos Explained
RoboForex offers demo accounts that mirror its Pro and ECN accounts, plus demos for R StocksTrader. A Pro demo matches the real Pro account; an ECN demo uses ECN leverage and stop out but Prime commissions. Here is how to open one and what to test.
RoboForex's Help Center describes three uses for a demo account: learning the basics without risking money, checking the broker's trading conditions before opening a real account, and testing new strategies or Expert Advisors. It offers three kinds of demo. Demo Pro accounts are equivalent to real Pro accounts. Its demo ECN accounts have the same maximum leverage and stop out as real ECN accounts, but charge commission at Prime rates. And R StocksTrader has its own demo accounts.
That ECN detail matters: a demo ECN result can look slightly cheaper than live ECN trading.
| Demo Pro | Same conditions as real Pro |
|---|---|
| Demo ECN | ECN leverage and stop out; Prime commission |
| R StocksTrader | Separate demo accounts |
| Platforms | MT4, MT5, R StocksTrader |
| Cost | Free |
| Copy trading | Not available on demo |
How to open a demo
- Register a RoboForex Members Area.
- Open a demo account from the Members Area, choosing MT4 or MT5 and the account type.
- For stocks, choose Open a Demo R StocksTrader account.
- Log in to MetaTrader with the demo login, password and server (RoboForex-Demo or RoboForex-DemoPro on MT4).
Demo vs real
| Demo | Real | |
|---|---|---|
| Money | Virtual | Your deposit |
| Pro conditions | Identical | Identical |
| ECN commission | Prime rate | ECN rate |
| Copy trading | Not available | Available from $100 |
| Withdrawals | None | Verified clients |
What to test
- The difference between Pro spreads and ECN spreads plus commission on your pairs.
- How leverage changes margin; RoboForex's demo Pro allows up to 1:2000.
- Where the stop out triggers: 40% on Pro, 50% on ECN.
- Your Expert Advisors, before running them live or on a VPS.
- R StocksTrader's strategy builder, which needs no programming.
Testing EAs
RoboForex doesn't supply its own trading robots, but it supports EAs bought or built elsewhere. A demo is the place to check how an EA behaves before trusting it with money. When you go live, a ProCent account lets you run the same EA with real money at a hundredth of the size. Our RoboForex cent account guide explains how.
From demo to live
- Review at least a month of demo results against your rules.
- Choose the account type that matched your demo: Pro, ProCent or ECN.
- Verify your identity and address.
- Deposit from $10 and start with the same position sizes you practised.
Our RoboForex account opening guide covers verification.
What a demo can't show
A demo shows you the platform, the spreads and the margin maths. It can't show you how you'll react when real money is at stake, or how fills behave in the fastest markets. Traders who move straight from a big demo balance to large live positions often find their discipline doesn't transfer. Moving to a small cent account first bridges that gap.
Getting the most from a demo
Treat the demo as a rehearsal for the account you'll really use. If you'll trade a Pro account with $300, set the demo up the same way and trade the same sizes. Practising on a large virtual balance with big positions teaches habits that won't survive contact with a small real account, and it hides how quickly a few losses add up.
Keep a simple journal: date, instrument, entry, stop, target, result and a line on why you took the trade. After a month, the journal shows which setups work and which mistakes you repeat. That record is more valuable than the demo profit figure, which is easy to inflate with risks you'd never take with real money.
Demo for copy trading?
RoboForex's Copy Trading Service works only on real accounts; demo and netting accounts can't subscribe. If you want to test copy trading before committing much money, open a real account with the $100 minimum and copy one Trader in proportional mode with a low coefficient. That way the copied trades are small while you learn how the system behaves.
Practising on mobile
RoboForex's MobileTrader and the MetaTrader apps both work with demo accounts. Placing orders, setting stops and closing trades on a small screen is where many beginners make mistakes, so it is worth practising on the device you'll trade on.
Testing R StocksTrader on demo
R StocksTrader has its own demo accounts, opened from the Members Area with 'Open a Demo R StocksTrader account'. The platform's strategy builder lets you create, test and run automated strategies without programming, with historical data back to 1970 for backtesting. A demo is the safe place to learn it.
Use the demo to practise placing orders outside trading hours, which R StocksTrader allows, and to see how dividends and corporate events appear in your account before trading real shares.
Checklist before going live
Make sure you can place, modify and close every order type you plan to use; that your strategy has rules for entry, exit and size; that you've compared Pro and ECN costs on your pairs; and that your first live deposit is money you can afford to lose.
Demo results only mean something if the conditions match what you'll trade. Pick the demo type that matches your planned live account, set a realistic balance, and change nothing else.
When you do go live, start smaller than you think you need to. Real money changes how most people trade, and a small first account lets you learn that without a large cost.
If you plan to trade ECN, remember RoboForex's demo ECN uses Prime commission. Add a little to your demo costs when you compare, or your live results will look worse than the test.
Lina used a RoboForex demo Pro account for a month to test a moving-average EA. It worked on demo, so she ran it on a ProCent account with $20, where the same trades used cent lots. After another month she moved it to a Pro account.
