RoboForex Leverage: 1:2000 on Pro and ProCent, Limits and Rules
RoboForex offers leverage up to 1:2000 on its Pro and ProCent accounts, 1:500 on ECN and 1:300 on Prime. The 1:2000 drops to 1:1000 around the weekend close and when equity exceeds $10,000. Here is how RoboForex leverage works, how to change it and how to use it safely.
RoboForex is one of the brokers offering very high leverage. Its 'Leverage up to 1:2000' page says the increased leverage is available on all standard and cent accounts, which means Pro and ProCent on MetaTrader 4 and 5. ECN accounts go up to 1:500, Prime up to 1:300, and R StocksTrader varies by instrument. RoboForex also sets two automatic limits on the 1:2000 level.
High leverage lowers the margin you need. It doesn't lower the risk of each trade, which is set by your position size.
| Pro and ProCent | Up to 1:2000 |
|---|---|
| ECN | Up to 1:500 |
| Prime | Up to 1:300 |
| Weekend limit | 1:1000 from 23:00 Fri to 01:00 Sat (EET) |

Leverage by account
| Account | Maximum leverage | Stop out |
|---|---|---|
| Pro | 1:2000 | 40% |
| ProCent | 1:2000 | 30% |
| ECN | 1:500 | 50% |
| Prime | 1:300 | 100% |
| R StocksTrader | Up to 1:500 (stocks 1:20) | 20% |
When 1:2000 drops to 1:1000
RoboForex automatically reduces leverage on real accounts to 1:1000 in two situations. First, from 11:00 pm Friday to 1:00 am Saturday, Eastern European Time, when you can't choose the increased leverage; it is restored afterwards. Second, when your equity exceeds $10,000 or the equivalent. In that case, you need to bring equity back below the limit and send a new request in the Change Leverage section to restore 1:2000.
A leverage cut raises your margin requirement instantly. Positions sized right at 1:2000 can move close to stop out when leverage halves near the weekend.

What leverage means in margin
RoboForex's Help Center gives the margin formula as contract size divided by leverage. For one lot of EUR/USD (100,000 EUR, about $113,000 at recent prices):
| Leverage | Margin for 1 lot EUR/USD |
|---|---|
| 1:2000 | About $57 |
| 1:500 | About $226 |
| 1:100 | About $1,130 |
How to change your leverage
- Open the Change Leverage page in the Members Area.
- Select the correct trading account.
- Choose the new value and click Change Leverage.
- Log out of MetaTrader and back in so margin figures update.
You can't decrease leverage while positions are open, and R StocksTrader leverage can't be changed at all; open a new account instead. RoboForex says margin figures in the terminal show the old leverage until you log in again.
Using high leverage safely
- Size positions from your stop loss, not from the margin available.
- Keep effective leverage, total exposure divided by equity, in single figures.
- Watch for the weekend cut to 1:1000.
- Remember negative balance protection limits losses to your balance, not to your plan.
Effective leverage
The leverage on your account is a maximum, not a target. What matters is effective leverage: the total value of your open positions divided by your equity. A $1,000 account with 0.10 lot of EUR/USD open, about $11,300 of exposure, is at about 11:1, whatever the account allows.
Keeping effective leverage low means a run of losing trades dents the account rather than ending it. It also gives you room to absorb the automatic cut from 1:2000 to 1:1000 near the weekend without approaching stop out.
Position sizing with high leverage
Decide how much you'll lose if the stop is hit, then work back to the position size. With a $500 account, 1% risk is $5. With a 25-pip stop on EUR/USD, where a 0.01 lot moves about 10 cents a pip, the right size is 0.02 lots. At 1:2000 that needs only a few dollars of margin, which is the point: high leverage frees margin, while your stop decides the risk.
Traders who instead size by margin, filling the account because the margin looks small, are the ones who meet stop outs most often.
Equity above $10,000
If your equity grows past $10,000, RoboForex reduces 1:2000 leverage to 1:1000 automatically. To restore it, you need to bring equity back under the limit and send a new request. For larger accounts, it is usually simpler to accept 1:1000 or lower, which is still far more than most strategies need.
Leverage on R StocksTrader
R StocksTrader accounts use leverage set per instrument type: up to 1:20 on US stocks, up to 1:5 on European stock CFDs (1:4 for UK shares), 1:100 on indices, 1:500 on gold, 1:250 on silver and 1:20 on oil. Leverage on an R StocksTrader account can't be changed after opening, so choose carefully. Positions above 1:1 pay interest overnight, while 1:1 positions don't.
A note on risk
RoboForex's own risk warning says 75.85% of retail CFD accounts lose money with it. High leverage is a large part of why. Using a fraction of the leverage available is one of the simplest ways to be in the minority that doesn't.
High leverage is a tool for keeping margin free, not a reason to trade larger. Traders who treat it that way rarely notice the limits RoboForex places on it.
Check your account's current leverage in the Members Area before trading around the weekend, so a reduced value never comes as a surprise.
1:2000 is a ceiling, not a strategy. At RoboForex it is most useful on ProCent, where small balances need tiny margins, and least useful for anyone tempted to trade bigger because the margin looks small.
Tunde opened a RoboForex Pro account at 1:2000 with $300 and placed 2 lots of GBP/USD because the margin was under $150. A 40-pip move took him close to the 40% stop out. He now risks 2% per trade, about $6, and trades 0.03 lots.
