RoboForex Free VPS: $300 Equity, 3 Lots a Month and How to Order
RoboForex offers a free VPS to clients with at least $300 equity who trade 3 standard lots a month; otherwise it costs $5 a month. MT5 clients depositing $500 get a MetaQuotes VPS free until 31 December 2026. Here are the rules, specs and set-up steps.
RoboForex offers a virtual private server, called VPS 2.0, so Expert Advisors and other trading software can run around the clock even when your computer is off. According to its VPS page, the service is free if your account equity is above $300 and you trade at least 3 standard lots a month. If you don't meet the volume, you can keep it for $5 a month. Separately, MT5 clients who deposit $500 can use a MetaQuotes VPS free until 31 December 2026.
The rules on volume and renewal are detailed, so it's worth reading them before relying on the server for a live strategy.
| Free if | Equity over $300 and 3 lots a month |
|---|---|
| Otherwise | $5 a month |
| Specs | 1 core, 1 GB RAM, 30 GB HDD |
| System | Windows Server 2019, RDP access |
| MT5 offer | $500 deposit: MetaQuotes VPS free to 31 Dec 2026 |
| Order in | Members Area, 'Your VPS 2.0 server' |
How to order
- Register at RoboForex and verify your account.
- Make sure you have at least $300 on your trading account.
- Apply in the 'Your VPS 2.0 server' section of the Members Area.
- Open the email with the VPS IP address, login and password.
- Connect by Remote Desktop and install your terminal and EAs.
The volume rule in detail
- Equity must exceed $300, not counting active bonuses.
- You need at least 3 standard lots of trading a calendar month.
- CFD volume, including CFDs on US stocks, doesn't count.
- If you get the VPS after the 15th, counting starts on the 1st of the next month.
- Falling short on volume disables the VPS; to re-enable, you need $300 equity and 3 lots counted from the month it was disabled.
Paying $5 a month
Traders who don't meet the volume can choose 'Renew automatically' on the VPS page. The $5 fee is taken from your USD wallet five days before the end of the month, and trading in those last five days isn't counted towards that month's volume. If the wallet is empty, RoboForex tries again on the last day; if it still fails, the service is disabled on the 1st.
Specification
| Component | VPS 2.0 |
|---|---|
| CPU | 1 core |
| RAM | 1 GB |
| Disk | 30 GB HDD |
| Operating system | Windows Server 2019 |
| Access | RDP, plus VNC from the Members Area |
One gigabyte of RAM is enough for one or two MetaTrader terminals with light EAs; heavier set-ups may need the MetaQuotes option or your own VPS.
What you can and can't do
You get full administrator access and can install any software needed for trading, but the VPS only reaches RoboForex's own trading servers and websites; other internet sites are blocked. The service is for client accounts, not partners' investment accounts, and RoboForex can refuse it at its discretion. Responsibility for what you run on it is yours.
The MT5 MetaQuotes VPS offer
For MT5 users, RoboForex covers a MetaQuotes virtual hosting subscription until 31 December 2026 if you deposit $500 into an MT5 account. MetaQuotes hosting runs inside the MT5 terminal's own infrastructure. Our RoboForex platforms guide compares MT4 and MT5.
VIP clients
RoboForex VIP clients, with total funds from $3,000, get improved VPS conditions: access with no restrictions provided there was at least one trade in the previous month. Our RoboForex cashback guide covers VIP levels.
Connecting to the VPS
On Windows, use Remote Desktop Connection with the IP address, login and password from RoboForex's email. RoboForex also publishes guides for connecting from Android, iPhone, iPad and macOS through RDP apps, and for VNC access from the Members Area if RDP isn't available. Once connected, install MetaTrader, log in to your trading account and attach your EA.
Set the terminal to start automatically and keep only the charts and indicators your EA needs. With 1 GB of RAM, a lean set-up keeps the server responsive.
Keeping the VPS free
Track your monthly volume in currency pairs and metals, since CFD trades don't count, and aim to reach 3 lots well before the last five days of the month, which aren't counted if you're on automatic renewal. Keep equity above $300, excluding bonuses. If you expect a quiet month, enabling automatic renewal at $5 avoids the server being switched off unexpectedly.
Is a VPS right for you?
A VPS is most useful if you run Expert Advisors that must react around the clock, or if your home internet or power is unreliable. Manual traders who close positions daily rarely need one. If you run an EA, the benefit of a server that never sleeps usually outweighs the small effort of meeting RoboForex's volume rule.
Before moving an EA to the VPS, test it on a demo or ProCent account, and set limits on position size and number of trades. A VPS runs your strategy faithfully, including its mistakes.
Security on the VPS
You get full administrator access, so you're responsible for what's installed. Use a strong password, avoid installing unnecessary software, and remember that only RoboForex's servers and websites are reachable from it.
Used well, the VPS takes the weakest link, your home connection, out of automated trading. Keep the set-up simple and check it regularly.
If your EA trades mainly CFDs, remember they don't count towards the 3-lot requirement, so budget for the $5 monthly fee.
Three lots a month is a low bar for a free VPS, and $5 is cheap if you miss it. The details to watch are the 1 GB of RAM and the five-day billing window, which can catch out traders who rely on late-month volume.
Sipho ordered RoboForex's free VPS for his MT4 Pro account with $800 equity. His EA trades about 6 lots a month of currency pairs, so the server stays free. He keeps only one terminal running to stay within the 1 GB of memory.
