IUX demo accounts.

IUX demo accounts.

IUX lets you open a demo account with virtual money for any of its three account types: Standard, Raw or Pro. You don't deposit anything, and if you choose Try Demo when you first sign up, you can start practising before you verify your identity. IUX says the demo mirrors live charts, spreads and execution speed.

The rules on how long a demo lasts and how many you can hold are a little different from other brokers, and one of them catches people out: you can't add more virtual money to an existing demo.

How to open an IUX demo

  1. Register on the IUX website or app, or log in if you already have a profile.
  2. At sign-up, choose Try Demo to skip verification for now.
  3. Or go to Profile > Trading Accounts > Create Account.
  4. Pick Standard, Pro or Raw, then click Try Demo.
  5. Select your leverage, create a trading password and confirm.

You can trade the demo in the client dashboard, the IUX Trade App or MetaTrader 5. The MT5 server name is on the account card. When you later try to deposit or open a real account, IUX will ask you to complete verification first; see how to open an IUX account.

How long an IUX demo lasts

IUX says its demo has no fixed expiry date. The catch is inactivity: if you don't log in for more than 90 days in a row, counted from your last login, the demo is closed automatically. You can open a new one in seconds, but your history on the old one is gone.

A separate Help Center article adds a second rule for all accounts, demo included: accounts with no trading or account activity for more than 15 days and a balance under $1 move to the archive, where they can be reactivated for up to 90 days before deletion. Any demo with virtual funds left in it won't normally fall under that rule, but one you have run down to zero could.

Limits to plan around

RuleWhat IUX says
Active demosUp to 3 at the same time
Topping upNot supported; delete or keep the old demo and open a new one
Withdrawing demo profitNot possible; funds are virtual
Closing a demoCan be done instantly from Trading Accounts
Deleted demosUsually can't be recovered

IUX's account-creation article also mentions a limit of three accounts per account type for real and demo accounts. In practice, plan on three demos at a time.

Using the demo well

Three demos are enough to compare all of IUX's account types side by side. Run a Standard, a Raw and a Pro demo on the same pair for a few weeks and note the cost per trade on each, including the Raw account's $7 commission per lot. That gives you a real basis for choosing a live account.

Set the demo balance and leverage close to what you plan to use live. A demo with 1:3000 leverage and a large virtual balance teaches habits that don't survive a $200 live account. Practise hitting the 40% margin call and 20% stop out levels on purpose so you know what they look like; our IUX stop out guide explains the maths.

  • Test placing, editing and closing orders on MT5 and the IUX Trade App.
  • Practise setting stop loss and take profit on every trade.
  • Watch how spreads change around news; IUX's leverage caps apply during high-impact releases.
  • Check the symbol suffixes: .iux for Standard, none for Raw and a dot for Pro.

Demo versus live

Execution on a demo is simulated. Live trading adds slippage during fast markets, real swap charges if you lose swap-free status, and the emotional pressure of real money. Treat demo results as a rehearsal, not a forecast.

When to move to a live account

A sensible checkpoint is a month or two of demo trading with a written plan, a fixed risk per trade and a record you can review. If you can't stay within your rules on a demo, real money won't make it easier. When you're ready, IUX's $30 Standard account is a low-cost way to test withdrawals; see IUX minimum deposit.

Logging in to your demo

Each demo has its own account number, trading password and MT5 server name, all shown on the account card under Trading Accounts. Use those three details to log in to MT5 on Windows, Mac, the web or your phone. In the IUX Trade App and the client dashboard you simply pick the demo account from your list after logging in with your normal website password.

Try every platform you might use live. The client dashboard has one-click trading and TradingView charts; MT5 desktop is the only place Expert Advisors run, so test any EA on a demo there for several weeks before trusting it with money.

Run your demo with the same rules you'll use live. Pick one account type, set a realistic balance such as $200, and record each trade's entry, exit, cost and reason. After a month, the record shows if your method works and which IUX account suits it, which is far more useful than a big virtual profit made with oversized positions.

Because IUX won't let you top up a demo, it quietly enforces good habits. Blow up the virtual balance and you have to start again, which is a far cheaper lesson than the live version.

Illustrative case: Kofi, 27, Kumasi

Kofi opened Standard, Raw and Pro demos with the same $1,000 virtual balance and traded EURUSD on all three for six weeks. His notes showed Raw was cheapest for his short trades, so he opened a live Raw account with $200, and kept logging in to his demos so they stayed active.
