How IUX swap-free status works.

How IUX swap-free status works.

IUX's approach to swap-free trading is unusual. There is no separate Islamic account to apply for. IUX's Help Center says it offers swap-free trading on all three account types, Standard, Raw and Pro, and that newly created accounts start with swap-free status by default. Keeping that status depends on your trading behaviour, which an automated system monitors.

Clients in countries IUX treats as Islamic are handled differently: the system detects them and assigns swap-free status automatically. The only country IUX lists under that heading is Indonesia.

How IUX decides your status

IUX says its algorithm looks at two things: how long your positions stay open, and how often trades are carried past the daily server reset at 00:00 server time. If your pattern doesn't fit swap-free use, the account is switched to "non-free swap" status and swaps are charged immediately.

Its guidance is specific. Avoid holding positions open for more than two or three consecutive days, and aim to close orders within the same trading day, before 00:00 server time. IUX's Help Center gives its standard server time as GMT+0, with trading hours shown in GMT+1 during the northern summer.

StatusWhat it means
Free swapNo overnight charges on most instruments; you must mainly trade intraday
Non-free swapOvernight fees apply to all instruments except stock CFDs

Instruments that charge swaps anyway

Even with swap-free status, IUX lists instruments that are still charged swap in non-Islamic countries:

  • Currency pairs AUDCAD, CADCHF, CADJPY, CHFJPY, GBPAUD, GBPCAD, NZDCHF, USDHKD and USDJPY (USDJPY is charged only on Wednesdays).
  • All metals and oil CFDs, except gold against the US dollar (XAUUSD).
  • The US Dollar Index (DXY).
  • All Thematic and Thematic Minor index CFDs.

IUX also says it reviews your trading history on these instruments to apply its swap-free conditions correctly. If you trade any of them overnight, expect a swap charge.

Swap-free status at IUX is a privilege that can change without you asking. Check your account's swap status before holding a trade for several days.

Losing and regaining swap-free status

If the system moves your account to non-free swap status, you don't need to contact support to get it back. IUX says that once your trading returns to the required pattern, mostly closing trades within the day and not holding for days at a time, the algorithm restores swap-free status automatically. How long that takes depends entirely on your trading; the system monitors accounts continuously.

Clients who registered as Islamic and are still charged swaps should contact support at [email protected] or submit a ticket. IUX says support is available 24/7.

Triple swaps

When swaps apply, IUX's swap-free article lists triple swaps on Wednesdays and Fridays. Its separate swap explainer covers how overnight fees are calculated. Triple swaps cover the weekend days on which positions are held but markets are closed, so a trade held over those nights costs three times the usual daily swap.

Is IUX a good choice for Islamic traders?

IUX's model suits intraday traders well: there is no application form, no extra commission or admin fee is mentioned, and swap-free status applies to all three accounts. It suits position traders less. If your strategy holds trades for a week or more, an algorithm that charges swaps after a few nights isn't a true Islamic account, and you may prefer a broker that offers swap-free status without holding conditions. Compare it with Exness's swap-free account.

Traders following Shariah principles should also note that IUX's Islamic-country list names only Indonesia. Clients elsewhere, including Muslims in India, Nigeria or Ghana, fall under the non-Islamic rules, where status depends on trading behaviour and the exception list applies.

FX Recap doesn't give religious rulings. If you need to know whether a specific product or condition is Shariah-compliant, ask a qualified scholar.

How to check your status

  1. Open MT5 or the IUX app and look at the swap column for your open positions after the daily reset.
  2. Check the instrument specification for swap long and swap short values.
  3. If you're charged on an instrument that isn't on IUX's exception list, open a ticket with the order numbers.

Habits that keep you swap-free

The simplest rule is to treat 00:00 server time as your daily finish line. Close intraday trades before then, and if you do carry a position overnight, avoid repeating it for more than two or three days in a row. Before trading a cross pair, metal or index, check it against IUX's exception list, because those are charged regardless of your status.

Gold is the notable exception to the metals rule. XAUUSD isn't on the list of metals charged swap, which makes it one of the most practical instruments for swap-free intraday traders at IUX. Stock CFDs are another, since IUX says they don't carry swaps even when an account loses swap-free status.

If you trade the instruments on the exception list, budget for their swaps as a normal cost. Check the swap long and swap short values in MT5's symbol specification before opening a position you might hold overnight, so the charge doesn't come as a surprise on your next statement.

IUX calls its accounts swap-free, but the status is conditional and decided by software. That's fine for day traders. If you hold positions through the week, budget for swaps as though you have none of the benefit.

Bayu's account was set to swap-free automatically because he registered from Indonesia. He mostly trades gold during the London session and closes before the server reset, so his XAUUSD trades have never been charged a swap.
