IUX Crypto Trading: 70+ Coin CFDs, 24/7 Hours, Leverage and Lot Limits
IUX offers 70+ cryptocurrency CFDs that trade around the clock, on all three accounts, with no wallet needed. Leverage is capped far below the 1:3000 headline during news, lot sizes have their own limits, and only BTCUSD earns LotBack points. Here are the details.
IUX's crypto page says you can trade 70+ cryptocurrencies as CFDs, including Bitcoin, Ethereum and alternatives such as Cardano, Solana, Litecoin, BNB and Polkadot. You never own the coins. A CFD tracks the price, so you can go long or short without a crypto wallet or exchange account. IUX's market hours table lists crypto CFDs as open 24/7.
That convenience comes with tighter limits than IUX's forex trading. Crypto has its own leverage caps, minimum and maximum lot sizes, and wider spreads, all set out in the Help Center.
| Coins | 70+ crypto CFDs, per IUX |
|---|---|
| Hours | 24/7 |
| Ownership | CFDs only; no wallet |
| Minimum trade | 0.1 lot (0.01 on BTCUSD) |
| News leverage | 1:100 on BTC and ETH; 1:50 on others |
| LotBack | BTCUSD only |
What you can trade
IUX's leverage policy names the main crypto CFDs it splits into two groups. The majors are BTCUSD and ETHUSD. Alternatives include ADAUSD, ATMUSD, AVAUSD, BATUSD, BCHUSD, BNBUSD, DOTUSD, LTCUSD, SOLUSD, TRXUSD, UNIUSD, XMRUSD and XTZUSD. The crypto page also mentions a Crypto 10 index CFD for broad exposure in one trade.
All are quoted against the US dollar. Check the live quotes page or MT5's Market Watch for the full list available to your account, since symbol suffixes differ by account type.
Leverage on crypto
| Crypto CFD | News period | Market close and rollover |
|---|---|---|
| BTCUSD and ETHUSD | 1:100 | 1:400 |
| Alternative coins | 1:50 | 1:400 |
During the news window, from 15 minutes before a high-impact release to 5 minutes after, new crypto positions are capped at 1:100 for Bitcoin and Ethereum and 1:50 for other coins. In the market close and rollover windows, the cap is 1:400 for both new and existing positions. Our IUX leverage guide covers the full HMR schedule.
Crypto prices can move 5% or 10% in an hour. Even at 1:50, a position can reach IUX's 20% stop out quickly. Size crypto trades smaller than your forex trades.
Lot size limits
| Instrument | Minimum lot | Max per order | Max per symbol |
|---|---|---|---|
| Crypto CFDs | 0.1 lot | 20 lots | 100 lots |
| BTCUSD | 0.01 lot | 10 lots | 20 lots |
IUX says it can change lot limits without notice based on market conditions and its liquidity providers, though changes don't affect positions already open.
Costs and swaps
Crypto CFDs on IUX use the same account pricing as everything else: spread only on Standard and Pro, spread plus $7 per lot on Raw. Spreads on crypto are much wider than forex spreads, so check IUX's live quotes for the coin you plan to trade before you open a position. Swap rules follow your account's swap-free status, and crypto isn't on IUX's list of instruments charged swap regardless. Our IUX fees guide explains the account costs.
LotBack on crypto
IUX's LotBack page lists BTCUSD as the only cryptocurrency eligible for LotBack points; other coins don't earn them. Trades must be held for at least 5 minutes using real balance. See our IUX promotion page for tiers.
Tools for crypto traders
- Charts with 50+ indicators and tools on the crypto page, and 80+ built into MT5.
- Market, limit, stop and OCO order types.
- Price alerts and custom notifications, according to IUX's crypto page.
- Stop loss and take profit on every position.
You can trade crypto on MT5, the IUX Trade App, the WebTerminal or the client dashboard. Because crypto trades at weekends, the IUX app is handy for checking positions when you're away from a computer.
Weekend trading tips
Crypto trading never stops, but liquidity thins out at weekends and overnight, so spreads can widen and slippage can grow. IUX's MetaTrader servers also have routine maintenance every two weeks on Sunday from 05:00 server time, usually lasting 15 to 30 minutes, when trading and deposits may pause briefly.
- Set stop losses before the weekend rather than relying on watching the market.
- Check margin level on Sunday mornings around maintenance windows.
- Avoid large positions in small alternative coins with thin liquidity.
CFDs versus buying coins
A crypto CFD at IUX gives you price exposure without the practical side of owning coins. You don't need a wallet, you can't lose a private key, and going short is as easy as going long. The trade-offs are just as real. You can't move coins to another wallet or spend them, positions are leveraged so losses grow faster, and you pay a spread on every trade.
For a trader who wants to speculate on short-term moves, that mix can make sense. Someone who wants to hold Bitcoin for years needs something else; a CFD is the wrong tool: leverage, swap rules and stop outs are built for trading, not storing value.
Placing a crypto trade on MT5
- Open MT5 and find the coin in Market Watch; right-click and choose Show All if it is hidden.
- Check the spread and the minimum lot: 0.1 for most coins, 0.01 for BTCUSD.
- Open a new order, set the volume, and add a stop loss and take profit.
- Watch your margin level in the Trade tab, especially overnight and at weekends.
Crypto also has a quirk on IUX's market hours table: it is the only asset class listed as open 24/7, while currency, metal and index CFDs close at weekends. That means crypto positions keep moving when you can't trade anything else, and a weekend gap in forex won't save a crypto trade from a Saturday sell-off. Keep that in mind if you hold both, because all positions in an account share the same margin.
IUX's crypto line-up is broad for a forex broker, but the 1:50 news cap on alternative coins tells you how risky the broker thinks they are. Take the hint and keep crypto positions small.
Ifeoma traded BTCUSD on her Raw account at 0.01 lot with a stop loss $600 below entry, risking about $6 per trade. She kept the trades open for at least five minutes so they earned LotBack points, and left Ethereum alone until she was comfortable with crypto spreads.
