FXTM's platforms.

FXTM gives you three ways to trade. MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5 run on Windows, Mac, Android and iOS. The FXTM app combines trading with account management, signals and news. And FXTM's web platform, at trade.fxtm.com, lets you manage funds and see market insights in a browser. When you create an FXTM trading account, a MetaTrader account is set up automatically; the app trades through it in the background.

MetaTrader 4

FXTM calls MT4 the industry favourite and suggests it for beginners and forex traders. It offers interactive charts with 30+ indicators, MQL4 for building Expert Advisors and custom indicators, VPS support and Multi Account Management for block trading across accounts. The Micro account runs on MT4 only.

MetaTrader 5

MT5 adds more: 80+ indicators, 21 timeframes against MT4's 9, market depth, an economic calendar, partial fill policies, netting and a multi-threaded strategy tester with real ticks. It is the platform for FXTM's stock CFDs, ETF CFDs and the Advantage Stocks account. Commission on Advantage MT5 is split between opening and closing, rather than charged upfront as on MT4.

The FXTM app

FXTM's app, for Android and iOS, puts trading and account management together. The home screen shows balance, equity, open profit or loss, free margin and margin level, followed by open positions and trading signals you can turn into an order ticket with one tap. You can deposit and withdraw, track and redeem FXTM Rewards points, read news and check the economic calendar.

To place a trade, tap Trade, filter by market, pick an instrument, tap Buy or Sell, set the lot size and, ideally, a stop loss and take profit, then confirm. The app can't run Expert Advisors, but FXTM says you can use custom-selected indicators. See how to open an FXTM account to get started.

Pro Trading Tools

FXTM's Pro Trading Tools come from Trading Central and FX Blue and are free through MetaTrader. To install them, log in, go to Hub > Pro Trading Tools, download the files for MT4 or MT5, run them and restart MetaTrader. They appear in the Navigator under Indicators or Expert Advisors, sometimes labelled FXTM or Figaro. FXTM notes that Autochartist is no longer offered.

Logging in to MetaTrader

  1. Open MetaTrader and choose File > Login to Trade Account (on mobile, add an account and search FXTM).
  2. Enter your trading account number and password.
  3. Pick the server that matches your account, shown under Profile > Accounts.
  4. Check for the green connection icon and your balance in the Trade tab.

FXTM can also disable an instrument or move an account to close-only mode, with an email notice beforehand. Right-click a symbol and choose Specification to check whether it is tradable.

Pending orders and positions stay on the server when you log off, but FXTM notes that trailing stops on MT5 stop working when you're offline or logged out.

Choosing your platform

Use MT4 if you trade mostly forex and want the simplest MetaTrader. Choose MT5 for stocks, ETFs, more timeframes or a stronger strategy tester. The FXTM app covers trading on the move and handles deposits, withdrawals and rewards. Many FXTM clients mix them, analysing on desktop MetaTrader and managing money in the app.

Downloading MetaTrader

MetaTrader 4 and 5 are free. For Windows and Mac, FXTM provides download links on the dashboard's home page and in its Help Centre; for phones, install MT4 or MT5 from Google Play or the App Store and search for FXTM when adding your account. When you register a trading account, you choose MT4 or MT5, where the account type offers both.

MT4 and MT5 both support virtual private servers for running strategies around the clock, and both offer Multi Account Management for traders who run several accounts at once.

The app's signals section lists trade ideas by market, with a confidence filter that shows only signals above levels such as 60% or 80%. Trending lists show the day's most-traded instruments and the biggest movers up and down over 24 hours, and a bell icon collects FXTM's notifications. Treat signals as ideas to check, not instructions to follow.

Whichever platform you use, the server time is the same: GMT+2, or GMT+3 during daylight saving. Session times, swap rollovers and DMR windows are all quoted in that server time.

FXTM's app is strong on account management and signals, but serious analysis and any automated strategy still belong on desktop MetaTrader. Choose MT4 or MT5 when you open the account, because your account type may limit you to one.

Illustrative case: Bayu, 31, Bandung

Bayu kept getting 'No connection' on MT5 after opening a new FXTM account. Under Profile > Accounts he saw the account used a different server from the one he'd picked. Once he selected the right server and typed his password manually, the terminal connected.
