FXTM Micro Account: Cent Trading From $30, Markets and Limits
FXTM's Micro account is a cent account on MT4: a $30 deposit shows as 3,000 cents, spreads start at 1.7 pips with no commission, and leverage floats up to 1:1000. It covers about 30 markets, isn't swap-free and doesn't earn rewards. Here is who it suits.
FXTM's Micro account is built for small, real-money trading. It is a cent account on MetaTrader 4: your balance shows in US cents (USC), euro cents (EUC) or, in the UAE, dirham cents (AEC). A $30 deposit appears as 3,000, and a trade of 0.01 lots on a cent account is a fraction of the size of the same trade on a standard account. FXTM pitches it at new traders, people stepping up from a demo, and anyone testing a strategy or Expert Advisor.

How cent trading works
Everything on a Micro account is counted in cents rather than dollars, so the money at stake on each trade is far smaller than on a standard account. You still trade from 0.01 lots, but a move that would cost a standard-account trader dollars costs a Micro trader cents. That makes it a gentle way to experience real execution, real slippage and real emotions without risking much.
FXTM doesn't publish a worked pip-value example for Micro on the pages we checked. Before your first trade, open the contract specification in MT4 (right-click the symbol and choose Specification) to see the contract size, then work out what one pip is worth on your position.
What you can trade
Micro gives access to about 30 markets: 28 major and minor currency pairs, the US Dollar Index (USDInd), spot gold and silver, Brent, WTI and natural gas, and Bitcoin and Ethereum CFDs. That is a short list next to the 1,000-plus instruments on FXTM's other accounts, which add more forex, indices, stocks, ETFs, futures and crosses.
Costs on Micro
Micro is a spread-only account. Spreads start at 1.7 pips and there is no commission. It isn't swap-free, so overnight swaps apply to positions held past the daily rollover, with triple swaps on some nights. FXTM's inactivity fee and withdrawal fees apply as on other accounts; see our FXTM fees guide.
Leverage and risk levels
Leverage floats up to 1:1000, falling as your total position size grows, and FXTM's temporary limits around news and market closes apply too. The margin call is at 50% and the stop out at 20%, the same as the Rewards accounts. Because the balance is in cents, the account is less likely to tempt you into oversized trades, but high leverage can still wipe out a small balance quickly.
Cent balances look large on screen. A balance of 3,000 is $30, not $3,000. Keep that in mind when judging profits and losses.
Who should use Micro
| Use | Why Micro works |
|---|---|
| First real-money account | Real execution and real emotions with minimal risk |
| Moving on from a demo | Bridges the gap before a standard account |
| Testing an Expert Advisor | Runs on desktop MT4 at small size |
| Testing withdrawals | Low minimum to see how FXTM pays out |
It suits fewer people once they are trading regularly. There is no MT5, no swap-free option, no rewards and a narrow market list. Traders who need stocks, indices or more pairs will outgrow it.
Moving up from Micro
When you're ready, open a new account alongside Micro; FXTM allows up to 10 live accounts on one profile. Rewards Plus from $100 keeps spread-only pricing and adds Reward Points, while Advantage from $500 offers raw spreads and commission. Compare them in FXTM account types.
Opening a Micro account
- Register and verify your FXTM profile with ID and proof of residence.
- Create a new trading account and choose Micro; it runs on MT4.
- Pick US cents, euro cents or, in the UAE, dirham cents.
- Deposit at least $30 or EUR30 to activate the account.
- Log in to MT4 with the account number, password and server shown in your profile.
Using Micro to test Expert Advisors
FXTM describes Micro as EA-friendly. Expert Advisors run on desktop MT4, not on mobile, so a home computer or a virtual private server needs to stay on for the EA to keep trading. Running a new EA on a cent account first shows how it behaves with real execution, spreads and slippage, at a cost of cents rather than dollars.
Keep the test long enough to mean something. A few days rarely tells you much; a month or two of results, recorded in MT4's history, gives a better sense of whether the EA is worth running on a larger account.
Micro versus the demo
The demo shows you the platform; Micro shows you yourself. On a demo, there's no fear of loss, slippage feels abstract and withdrawals never happen. Micro adds real execution, real spreads, real swaps and the experience of depositing and withdrawing, all at a size where a bad day costs little. Many traders find their results on Micro look different from their demo results, which is exactly why it is worth doing.
When a cent balance grows, it is easy to forget the real value. Convert it to dollars before each review: 25,000 cents is $250, not $25,000.
FXTM's Micro account is one of the sensible ways to move from demo to real money. The trade-offs, MT4 only, no swap-free and a short market list, are fine for learning; they become limits once you have a tested plan.
Rafiq opened a Micro account with $30, which appeared as 3,000 cents on MT4. He traded EURUSD with a 30-pip stop loss on every position, keeping each trade's risk under 1% of his balance, and after two months used the account's history to decide whether his strategy was worth scaling up.
