Exness VPS server locations and the rule that switches it off.

Exness offers a virtual private server (VPS) for running automated strategies around the clock. Its Help Center says the servers sit near Exness's trading servers in Amsterdam, Dubai, Seoul, Singapore, Miami and Johannesburg, come with MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5 installed, and keep your Expert Advisors running when your own computer is off. To get one, you need to meet criteria on account balance and/or trading volume, shown in your Personal Area.

The VPS is free while you qualify. If you stop meeting the criteria, Exness terminates it and deletes everything on it, so understanding the rules matters as much as setting it up.

Why use a VPS

Exness lists four advantages: speed, because the servers are close to its trading servers; stability, because your home connection no longer affects order execution; 24-hour trading, since EAs keep running when your computer is off; and access from any device. You can use your own VPS instead, Exness says, but it can't guarantee the quality of that connection.

Who qualifies

Exness sets criteria on total account balance and/or trading volume, and shows the ones that apply to you in the Personal Area under Exness benefits, then Virtual Private Server. Its worked example shows a requirement of $1.5 million of trading volume within 30 calendar days, alongside a total balance between $500 and $1,999.

How trading volume is counted

Exness counts volume in US dollars, and a full trade counts twice: once when opened and again when closed. Opening 1 lot of USDJPY adds $100,000; closing it adds another $100,000, so that round turn contributes $200,000. Pending orders don't count. Exness gives the formula: fully traded lots needed = ((volume in USD ÷ base currency to USD rate) ÷ contract size) ÷ 2.

How to apply

  1. Log in to the Personal Area and open Exness benefits, then Virtual Private Server.
  2. If you meet the criteria, click Request VPS hosting.
  3. Choose the number of trading terminals, the system language and the server location, then order.
  4. Accept the VPS User Agreement.
  5. Wait until the status shows Online, then click Login to see the address, login and password.

Exness recommends setting a unique VPS password before trading. The number of terminals and the language can't be changed without reinstalling, and changing location means deleting the server and requesting a new one.

Connecting from a computer or phone

On Windows, Exness suggests the Remote Desktop Connection app, and it provides connection instructions for other systems. In the Exness Trade app, open Profile, then VPS, to find the same credentials. Once connected, log in to your MT4 or MT5 account inside the VPS and attach your EA there; our Exness platforms guide covers EA installation.

Rules that switch it off

  • If you stop meeting the criteria, Exness sends warnings on days 20, 28, 29 and 30 of a 30-day period, then terminates the VPS and deletes all data, which can't be recovered.
  • The VPS may only be used to trade with Exness's servers.
  • Breaching the terms of use can lead to termination after 24 hours' notice and a ban from reapplying.
  • You're responsible for your terminal's connection, restarts and EA status; Exness monitors its MT servers.
  • Exness isn't liable for losses from VPS outages or from EAs, including ones installed with its support's help.
  • Maintenance can interrupt the VPS; Exness advises closing trades before Friday's close if maintenance is scheduled.

Keep copies of your EA files and settings off the VPS. If your volume drops and the server is deleted, nothing on it can be recovered.

Is the Exness VPS worth it?

For traders who already meet the criteria and run EAs, yes: it removes the cost of a paid VPS and puts the robot close to Exness's servers, which can also help with requotes and slippage. Smaller accounts face a high volume requirement, and a paid VPS or a computer that stays on is the realistic alternative. Our Exness execution guide explains why latency matters.

A VPS doesn't make a strategy profitable; it makes execution more consistent. If an EA depends on reacting quickly, the lower latency can reduce slippage. Our Exness stop out guide explains why a robot left running also needs strict margin limits.

A free VPS is only free while you keep qualifying. Note your volume each week, back up the EA, and never let a robot run on a server you could lose at the end of a quiet month.

Illustrative case: Kemal, 36, Istanbul

Kemal qualified for an Exness VPS in Amsterdam and moved his grid EA onto it. During a quiet August his volume fell, and he received warnings on days 20 and 28. He increased his normal trading slightly within his risk rules to stay above the requirement, and he now keeps a backup of the EA and its settings on his laptop.
