FP Markets Crypto Trading: Bitcoin CFDs, 24/5 Hours, Spreads and Fees
FP Markets offers crypto CFDs on Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, Litecoin, Bitcoin Cash and other coins, traded 24 hours a day from Monday to Friday. You don't own the coins, there's no commission, and swaps are percentage-based. Here is how FP Markets crypto trading works.
FP Markets offers cryptocurrency as CFDs, so you trade on price without a wallet or exchange account. Its crypto page highlights Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, Bitcoin Cash and Litecoin, and its spread table also lists coins such as Cardano, Dogecoin, Polkadot, Chainlink and Solana. One detail sets FP Markets apart from some brokers: its crypto page describes a 24/5 market, and its trading hours run crypto daily from Monday to Friday, closing at 23:55 server time on Friday.
There's no commission on crypto on either account; the cost is the spread and overnight swaps.
| Product | Crypto CFDs (no ownership) |
|---|---|
| Hours | 24/5: Monday to Friday |
| Commission | None on Standard or Raw |
| Swaps | Percentage-based; triple on Friday |
| Platforms | MT4, MT5, cTrader, TradingView |
| Islamic | Admin fee, e.g. $60 per lot per night on BTCUSD |
Coins on offer
| Symbol | Coin | Average spread (FP Markets table) |
|---|---|---|
| BTCUSD | Bitcoin | 19.38 |
| ETHUSD | Ethereum | 0.97 |
| BCHUSD | Bitcoin Cash | 0.67 |
| RPLUSD | XRP | 3.33 |
| LTCUSD | Litecoin | 0.07 |
| ADAUSD | Cardano | 2.48 |
| DOGUSD | Dogecoin | 11.55 |
Spreads are quoted in the units FP Markets uses for each symbol, so compare them within the same coin rather than across coins.
Hours: 24/5, not 24/7
FP Markets runs crypto from 00:00 to 23:59 server time each weekday, closing at 23:55 on Friday. Crypto markets themselves trade through the weekend, so prices can move a long way between Friday's close and Monday's open, and positions can open with a gap. Plan weekend risk the same way you would for forex.
A crypto CFD held over the weekend at FP Markets can gap at the Monday open, and stop losses fill at the first available price. Reduce size or close before Friday's close if a gap would hurt.
Costs
- No commission on crypto, on either Standard or Raw.
- The spread, which can widen when markets are volatile.
- A daily swap on positions held at 00:00 server time, with a triple swap on Friday night.
FP Markets calculates crypto swaps as a percentage: lots × swap rate × closing price ÷ 100 ÷ 360 per day. Its swap table showed ETHUSD at -20.00 for longs and -2.00 for shorts, so both sides pay, with longs paying more.
Islamic accounts and crypto
Crypto can be traded on FP Markets' Islamic accounts, with an admin fee from the first night: $60 per lot per night on BTCUSD, $2 on ETHUSD and $10 on SOLUSD, for example. Our FP Markets Islamic account guide has the full list.
Platforms
You can trade crypto CFDs on MT4, MT5, cTrader and TradingView, on desktop, web and mobile. FP Markets' crypto page describes TradingView as fully cloud-based with advanced charting tools. Our FP Markets platforms guide compares them.
Crypto CFD or buying coins?
| FP Markets crypto CFD | Buying coins | |

| Wallet | Not needed | Needed |
| Go short | Yes | Not usually |
| Weekend trading | No (24/5) | Yes |
| Overnight cost | Swaps | None for holding |
Managing crypto risk
- Size positions from your stop; crypto moves several percent in a day.
- Use stops, accepting they can slip in fast markets.
- Mind Friday's close and Monday's open.
- Keep swaps in mind on trades longer than a few days.
Is FP Markets good for crypto?
For weekday trading of major coins with no commission, on platforms such as TradingView, FP Markets works well. Traders who want to react at weekends will find the 24/5 schedule limiting; brokers with 24/7 crypto, such as Exness, suit that better.
Placing a crypto trade
- Choose MT4, MT5, cTrader or TradingView.
- Find the coin, such as BTCUSD, in Market Watch or the symbol search.
- Size the trade from your stop loss.
- Add the stop and, if you use one, a take profit.
- Plan whether to close before Friday's 23:55 server-time close.
Crypto vs forex at FP Markets
| Crypto CFDs | Forex | |
|---|---|---|
| Hours | 24/5 | 24/5 |
| Commission on Raw | None | US$3 per lot per side |
| Swap basis | Percentage | Points |
| Triple swap | Friday | Wednesday |
A swap example
Using FP Markets' crypto formula with a hypothetical Ethereum closing price of $2,500 and the long swap rate of -20 shown on its swap table: (1 lot × -20 × 2,500 ÷ 100) ÷ 360 is about -$1.39 per day. Held from Monday to the next Monday, with Friday's triple charge, that comes to roughly seven days of swaps, about $9.70 per lot.
Weekend gaps in numbers
| Friday close | Monday open | Effect on a long with a stop 3% below |
|---|---|---|
| $60,000 | $59,000 | Stop not hit |
| $60,000 | $57,000 | Stop filled at about $57,000, a 5% loss |
Figures are hypothetical. Because the market is closed at weekends at FP Markets, a stop can only fill at the first price on Monday.
Who FP Markets crypto suits
FP Markets' crypto CFDs suit weekday traders who already use MetaTrader, cTrader or TradingView and want to add Bitcoin or Ethereum to the same account as their forex. There's no wallet to secure and no commission, and you can short as easily as buy.
They suit long-term holders less well. Percentage-based swaps build up week by week, and the 24/5 schedule means weekend moves land on your account at Monday's open with no chance to react.
The 24/5 schedule is the detail most traders miss at FP Markets. Bitcoin keeps moving all weekend, so a Friday position is really a bet on where Monday opens.
Hassan held 0.5 lot of BTCUSD at FP Markets into a Friday close. Bitcoin fell sharply on Sunday, and his position opened on Monday well past his stop. He now closes or halves crypto positions before Friday's 23:55 server-time close.
