FP Markets gives you four main platforms. MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5 are available on desktop, web and mobile; cTrader adds its own charting, automation and copy trading; and TradingView connects to FP Markets Raw accounts for trading straight from its charts. FP Markets says both MetaTrader platforms are free, with no subscription, and that pricing on them is live with no delay.

MetaTrader 4
FP Markets calls MT4 a trader's 'Swiss Army knife': a 32-bit platform with 30 technical indicators, 31 graphical objects, 9 timeframes and 4 order types. It is the home of the largest library of Expert Advisors and custom indicators. FP Markets supports EAs, including on its VPS, and publishes tutorials on installing them.
MetaTrader 5
MT5 is a 64-bit, multi-threaded platform with 38 indicators, 44 graphical objects, 21 timeframes, 8 order types and depth of market. FP Markets' FAQ calls it MT4's successor with superior functions and expects it to replace MT4 eventually. Share and ETF CFDs are listed on MT5. Our FP Markets stocks guide covers them.
cTrader
cTrader offers more than 70 built-in indicators, charts from one minute to monthly, chart types including Renko and Tick, and market, limit, stop and stop-limit orders. Custom indicators and robots are written in C# with cTrader Automate, and copy trading is built in. It runs on Windows, macOS, web and mobile.
TradingView
- Register for a live FP Markets account to receive your cTrader ID (cTID).
- Complete registration and fund your account to access TradingView from the Client Portal.
- Sign up with TradingView, find FP Markets under brokers and connect.
- Approve access and trade from the chart's order panel.
FP Markets lists TradingView only on the Raw account. TradingView's Paper Trading mode is available for practice, though FP Markets notes it doesn't reflect live execution.
WebTrader
WebTrader runs MT4 and MT5 in any browser with no download. FP Markets says it matches the desktop's execution, with the same instruments, spreads from 0.0 pips, one-click trading and depth of market, and gives access to more than 800 products.
Logging in to MetaTrader
- Download the platform from the Client Portal.
- Open it and choose File, then Login to Trade Account.
- Enter your account number, password and the server from your welcome email.
On a Raw account on the FPMarkets-live server, Raw symbols carry a .r suffix; on FPMarkets-live2, every symbol is Raw and has no suffix. If symbols look greyed out, you may be using the wrong set.

Which platform should you choose?
- Running MQL EAs: MT4 or MT5.
- Multi-asset and shares: MT5 or cTrader.
- C# automation or built-in copy trading: cTrader.
- Charting first: TradingView with a Raw account.
- No installation: WebTrader.
Mobile trading
MT4, MT5 and cTrader all have FP Markets-compatible apps for iOS and Android, and TradingView has its own mobile app linked to your account. To get MetaTrader alerts on your phone, find your MetaQuotes ID in the mobile app under Settings, then on desktop go to Tools, Options, Notifications, tick Enable Push Notifications and enter the ID.
Useful MetaTrader tips
- Set an investor (read-only) password under Tools, Options, Server to share your account safely.
- Save chart templates, since indicators can disappear after updates.
- Download a statement from the Account History tab with Save As Report.
- Change the platform language under View, then Languages.
Downloading and system needs
Download MT4, MT5 or cTrader from the FP Markets Client Portal. MT5 and cTrader need Windows 7 or later and are supported on macOS; FP Markets provides a dedicated Mac MT4 download. Install updates when they appear, and save chart templates first so your indicators survive the update.
Moving between platforms
Each FP Markets trading account is opened on one platform, so switching means opening a new account. You can hold up to 10 under one Client Portal, and once your first account is verified no new documents are needed. Many traders keep an MT5 account for automated strategies and a Raw account connected to TradingView for chart-based trading.
Move funds between them with an internal transfer in the Client Portal, which is possible between accounts under the same profile.
FP Markets is one of few brokers offering all of MT4, MT5, cTrader and TradingView. If you already chart on TradingView, the Raw account connection is the standout; otherwise MT5 is the most complete starting point.
