FP Markets' trading platforms run on server time of GMT+2, or GMT+3 when daylight saving applies. Its FAQ explains why: this lets the daily candles follow the New York close. Every time on FP Markets' trading hours page, and in MT4, MT5 and cTrader, is in this server time. Forex trades around the clock from Monday to Friday, and other markets have their own sessions.
Swaps are charged at 00:00 server time, which is 5 pm in New York.

Swap times
Swaps apply at 00:00 server time to positions open from the previous day. Forex and metals pay a triple swap for positions held over Wednesday night; indices, energies and crypto over Friday night. Our FP Markets fees guide covers swap costs.
The four forex sessions
FP Markets' trading hours page lists the main sessions in New York time (EST): Sydney 3 pm to midnight, Tokyo 7 pm to 4 am, London 3 am to 11 am and New York 8 am to 5 pm. Liquidity, and usually the tightest spreads, come when London and New York overlap.

When the server moves to GMT+3 in northern summer, cities that don't change their clocks move one hour closer to server time.
Holidays and 'Trade disabled'
FP Markets publishes a holiday trading hours page with changes around public holidays. If MetaTrader shows 'Trade Disabled', FP Markets says the usual causes are trading outside market hours, an instrument that's no longer available, or an account that isn't fully verified.
Planning your day
- Set MetaTrader's clock against your local time once and note the difference.
- Trade the London and New York overlap for the tightest spreads.
- Avoid placing orders just before the 00:00 rollover, when spreads widen.
- Note triple-swap nights for the markets you hold.

Daylight saving
FP Markets' session list notes that the US, UK and Australia change clocks, so session times move against your local time twice a year. Because the server follows GMT+2 in winter and GMT+3 in summer, check the offset after each change.

Best times to trade
Liquidity is highest when the London and New York sessions overlap, which FP Markets' session list places between 8 am and 11 am New York time. That is usually when major pairs and gold have their tightest spreads and biggest moves. The quietest period is around the daily rollover at 00:00 server time, when spreads widen and trading pauses briefly.
Asian pairs, such as USD/JPY and AUD/USD, are most active during the Tokyo and Sydney sessions. Match your trading hours to the market you trade, not just to when you are free.
If you trade several markets, write down each one's server-time session next to your local time and keep the list beside your screen. It takes five minutes and prevents most 'Trade Disabled' surprises.
