How to Open an AvaTrade Account: Registration and Verification Steps
Opening an AvaTrade account takes an email, a password and a registration form, followed by ID and address verification that AvaTrade reviews within one business day. Unverified accounts can be blocked 14 days after the first deposit. Here is each step and the documents that pass first time.
Opening an AvaTrade account has two parts: registering, which takes a few minutes, and verifying your identity and address, which AvaTrade's team reviews within one business day of upload. Verification isn't optional. AvaTrade's Help Center warns that accounts not verified within 14 days of their first deposit may be blocked, and European clients must verify before they can deposit at all.
Getting the documents right first time is what makes the process quick.
| Registration | Email, password and registration form |
|---|---|
| Proof of identity | Passport, ID card or driving licence (colour) |
| Proof of address | Dated within 6 months |
| Review time | Within 1 business day |
| Deadline | Verify within 14 days of first deposit |
| Tax number | TIN required by regulation |
Step 1: register
- Click Register on AvaTrade's website or in the AvaTrade app.
- Enter your email and create a password that meets the requirements shown.
- Complete the registration form: personal details, address, employment, trading experience and your Tax Identification Number.
- Choose your platform and base currency for the first account.
If you stop part-way, AvaTrade emails you after 30 minutes with a link and temporary password to finish. Each email address can only be registered once, so use the link rather than starting again.
Step 2: upload proof of identity
AvaTrade asks for a colour copy of a valid government-issued ID: passport, national ID card or driving licence. It must show your name, photo, date of birth and expiry date, and match the details you registered with. For ID cards and licences, upload both sides. AvaTrade accepts the PAN card from Indian citizens as photo ID.
Step 3: upload proof of address
The address document must show your name, address and an issue date within the last six months. AvaTrade accepts:
- Bank or credit card statement, or a bank details document.
- Electricity, water or gas bill.
- Council tax, landline or mobile phone, internet or waste disposal bill.
- A letter from your local municipality, or an affidavit signed by police or a commissioner of oaths.
AvaTrade rejects letters, receipts, medical and school documents, tenancy agreements, cropped documents and screenshots. Upload full pages with all four corners visible.
Card and third-party documents
If you deposit by credit card, AvaTrade may ask for a colour copy of the front and back of the card, showing your name, expiry date and the first and last four digits; you can cover the middle eight digits and the CVV. Deposits made by someone else need verification documents for both people and a Power of Attorney form.
Where to upload and how to track it
Upload everything through your account area's Upload Documents section, on the website or in the AvaTrade app under Accounts, then Upload documents. Each document then shows a status: Waiting for Review, a green tick when approved, or Rejected with a note on what to send instead. The top of the page shows your status: Verified or Not Verified.
Extra steps in some countries
- Australia: complete a short online questionnaire after uploading, and certify copies if asked, by an approved certifier such as a pharmacist, teacher or legal practitioner.
- EU: verification is required before your first deposit.
- Tax number: every client provides a TIN, a regulatory requirement for tax reporting.
Restricted countries
AvaTrade doesn't accept clients from the US, UK, Belgium, New Zealand, Russia, India and a number of other countries. Check its list before registering. Our AvaTrade regulation guide lists them and explains which company you'll join.
After verification
- Deposit at least 100 in your base currency.
- Download your platform, or use the AvaTrade app or WebTrader.
- Log in with the credentials AvaTrade emailed for your trading account.
- Request the Islamic option or Professional status if you need them.
Our AvaTrade minimum deposit guide explains funding methods and times.
Why documents get rejected
| Problem | How to fix it |
|---|---|
| Name on the form differs from your ID | Register with your name exactly as it appears on the ID |
| Address document older than six months | Upload a bill or statement issued in the last six months |
| Cropped photo or screenshot | Upload a full page with all four corners visible |
| Expired ID | Use a valid passport, ID card or driving licence |
| Black and white copy | Upload a clear colour copy |
| Unaccepted document type | Avoid letters, receipts, tenancy agreements and school or medical papers |
When a document is rejected, AvaTrade shows the reason under Upload Documents and what to upload instead. Fix that one item rather than re-uploading everything.
Your account area after registration
Once registered, your account area is where you manage everything: Finance for deposits, withdrawals and internal transfers, Upload Documents for verification, Add an Account for new real or demo accounts, the Professional Trader tab, and Personal Details, where you can switch the display between 25 languages. Your trading accounts are listed with their platform, currency and login details.
Keeping your account secure
- Use a strong password that meets AvaTrade's requirements, and don't reuse it elsewhere.
- Reset a forgotten password with the 'Forgot your password?' link; AvaTrade asks for your date of birth before you set a new one.
- Remember that each email address can only be registered once.
- Never share your login with anyone who offers to trade for you.
Most verification delays come from small mismatches: a nickname on the registration form, an old bill or a cropped photo. Register with your name exactly as it appears on your ID and the review is usually a formality.
Ana registered with AvaTrade, uploaded her national ID and a phone bill from two months earlier, and saw both documents marked Waiting for Review. The next business day they showed green ticks and her account said Verified, so she made her first deposit by card.
