AvaTrade gives you more platform choice than most brokers. Its Help Center lists MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5, as downloads or in a browser, the AvaTrade app for mobile, AvaOptions for options trading, and automated trading through DupliTrade and other copy services. AvaTrade's own web platform, WebTrader, adds AI-driven insights, alerts and heatmaps. Which you choose decides your tools: Expert Advisors need MetaTrader, while AvaProtect only works in AvaTrade's own platforms.

MetaTrader 4

AvaTrade's MT4 page highlights 30 technical indicators, 9 timeframes, 4 pending order types and access to thousands of Expert Advisors. It adds AvaTrade's own tools, such as Guardian Angel, an EA that gives real-time feedback on your trading patterns, and a Trading Central plugin for automated technical analysis. One-click trading is available on MT4.

MetaTrader 5

MT5 offers 38 built-in indicators, 21 timeframes, 6 pending order types and depth of market (Level II) where available. It is the platform for AvaTrade's Professional status and supports fractional share trading of 0.001 lot on selected shares. WebTrader

WebTrader is AvaTrade's browser platform. Its page describes customisable layouts and watchlists, advanced charts, alerts, news, heatmaps, Trading Central signals and an economic calendar. Two AI tools from AvaTrade's partner Bridgewise sit in the platform: AI Insight, which shows automatic Overview, News and Technical analysis for each instrument, and ASK Ai, a chat assistant. AvaTrade says the AI Agent is a premium service it may charge for, and that its output isn't trading advice.

AvaTrade app

The AvaTrade app runs on iOS and Android and links to the same accounts as WebTrader. It handles registration, verification, deposits and trading, and includes AvaProtect, price alerts and AI insights. Our AvaTrade app guide covers it in detail.

AvaOptions

AvaOptions is a dedicated platform for vanilla FX options on more than 40 currency pairs and gold, with 13 strategy templates and risk tools such as Delta, Vega and Theta summaries. See our AvaTrade options guide.

Expert Advisors and automation

AvaTrade allows your own or third-party EAs on MT4 and MT5, but says it takes no responsibility for how they perform. Its Help Center explains the commonest reason an EA stops: not enough margin. An EA that keeps firing orders it can't fill floods the servers, so AvaTrade disables it; add margin, adjust the settings and contact Customer Services to have EAs re-enabled.

  • Test every EA on a demo first.
  • Set the EA's lot size to fit your margin.
  • Use a VPS or a computer that stays on if the EA must run around the clock.

Trading on a Mac

AvaTrade supports Mac users through MetaTrader. Install MT4 or MT5 from the MetaQuotes website, choose File, then Open an account, search for Ava Trade, select Connect with an existing trading account, enter your details and pick your server. WebTrader also runs in any browser.

Analysis tools across platforms

Trading Central's automated technical analysis is built into AvaTrade's MetaTrader 4 as a plugin and is free for clients who have deposited. Guardian Angel, available on MT4, measures market volatility over the last hour, day and two weeks, suggests a stop loss safe zone in pips, and shows weekly statistics on your trading. WebTrader adds an economic calendar and Market Buzz.

Logging in to MetaTrader

  1. Download MT4 or MT5 from AvaTrade's site or MetaQuotes.
  2. Open File, then Login to Trade Account (or Open an account on Mac).
  3. Enter the account number and password AvaTrade emailed you.
  4. Choose the server shown in your account details.

Accounts and platform rules

  • You can hold several accounts on different platforms under one AvaTrade registration.
  • Each account's base currency is fixed once created.
  • Professional status is available on MT5 accounts only.
  • AvaProtect works in the AvaTrade app and WebTrader, not on MT4.
  • EAs run on MT4 and MT5; copy trading through DupliTrade uses MetaTrader accounts.
