Days before an idle Elev8 demo is deactivated.

Elev8 offers a free demo account on every platform it supports: Elev8Trader, MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5. You don't need to verify your identity or make a deposit. Virtual funds are unlimited, because you can top up the balance whenever you like, and you can open as many demo accounts as you want.

Elev8 says you can use a demo for as long as you wish. The catch is inactivity. Demo accounts that you stop logging in to are deactivated: MetaTrader 4 demos after 8 days, MetaTrader 5 demos after 30 days. Elev8Trader demos are listed as unlimited. A deactivated demo isn't a loss, since a new one is free.

How to open a demo

  1. Log in to your profile, or sign up first.
  2. Scroll down the Dashboard page.
  3. Press Create Account next to the Your Accounts section.
  4. Choose a trading platform.
  5. Press Demo beneath Account type.

The demo is ready at once. For MetaTrader, use the account number, password and server you are given. On Elev8Trader, switch to the demo from your dashboard or the app.

How to top up the balance

  1. Log in to your profile.
  2. Switch to your demo account on the Dashboard page.
  3. Press the Top up button at the top of the page.
  4. Change the amount if you need to.
  5. Press Proceed.

Because you set the balance yourself, you can match it to the deposit you really plan to make. That one decision does more for the quality of your practice than any other. A demo with $50,000 in it teaches habits that a $100 account can't support.

Eight days is short. A trader who practises on MT4 at weekends and misses one will find the demo gone. If you only trade occasionally, choose Elev8Trader or MT5 for practice, or accept that you will be making a fresh MT4 demo now and then.

What the demo includes

Elev8 says a demo gives full feature access: indicators, order types, graphic objects and expert advisors for automated trading, everything a real account offers. Prices come from live market conditions with real-time data. All assets supported by your chosen platform are available.

  • Order entry with stop loss and take profit.
  • Charts, indicators and drawing tools.
  • Expert advisors on MT4 and MT5.
  • The Space feed and trading ideas on Elev8Trader.
  • Every instrument the platform lists, including crypto at weekends.

A realistic setup

A realistic setup. Balance: What you plan to deposit: Keeps risk per trade true to life; Leverage: 1:50 or 1:100: The 1:1000 maximum hides margin pressure; Platform: The one you will trade live: Order tickets differ between platforms; Lot size: 0.01 to 0.05: Fits a small real account

Leverage1:50 or 1:100The 1:1000 maximum hides margin pressure
PlatformThe one you will trade liveOrder tickets differ between platforms
Lot size0.01 to 0.05Fits a small real account

Elev8 lets you choose leverage from 1:1 to 1:1000 on demo as on live. Pick the level you intend to use with real money. A demo run at maximum leverage with an inflated balance tells you very little about how a small funded account will behave.

What a demo can't show

Elev8 itself notes that trading comes with risk and that a demo is the place to practise before committing funds. What a demo can't reproduce is how you feel when the money is yours. Hesitation, revenge trades and moved stops appear only on a live account.

Execution differs too. Elev8 uses market execution and says it can't guarantee filling at the requested rate for every position. On a demo that rarely matters. With a live account in a fast market, the fill can be a little away from the price you clicked.

Bonus behaviour is another gap. On a real account, Elev8's deposit bonus is cancelled if your equity falls below the bonus amount. You won't experience that rule, or its effect on your margin, in a practice account.

A four-week plan

  1. Week one: learn the platform. Place, edit and close orders until it is routine.
  2. In week two, trade a single market with 1% risk and a stop on every order.
  3. During week three, keep a journal of each trade with the reason and the result.
  4. Use week four to count rule breaks and compare average win with average loss.

Log in every few days and the expiry rules never touch you. Thirty to fifty journaled trades give you a fair sample. Fewer than that, and luck decides the result.

Mistakes that waste a demo

  • A huge balance that makes losses feel trivial.
  • No stop loss, because nothing real is at stake.
  • Ten markets sampled and none of them learned.
  • A top-up after every bad run instead of a review of what went wrong.
  • Verdicts on a strategy after a dozen trades.

The top-up button is the dangerous one. It is useful for setting a realistic balance and harmful as a way to erase mistakes. Treat a blown demo as the most valuable result you can get, and study it before you refill.

When you go live

When the journal shows you can follow your rules, open a real account on the same platform. Elev8's minimum is $25, though about $200 gives you room for 1% risk at the smallest trade size, as our Elev8 minimum deposit guide explains. Verify your profile first, following the account opening guide.

Keep a demo open afterwards for testing ideas. If you are still choosing a platform, the Elev8 platforms guide sets out the differences.

Practise on Elev8Trader if you only have time once a fortnight. Its demo is the only one that won't be switched off while you are away.

Demo profits prove a method can work under ideal fills. They don't prove you can follow it with real money, so start small.

Demo, then small, then normal

A sensible path has three stages. Stage one is the demo, where you learn the platform and test a plan for a few weeks. Next comes a small real account, where you trade the minimum size and discover how you behave with money at stake. The last stage is a normally funded account, opened once stage two shows you can keep to your rules.

Elev8's low minimum makes stage two cheap. Twenty-five or fifty dollars at 0.01 lots is enough to feel real fills and real nerves. Treat that money as tuition. The aim is to end the month having followed the plan, whatever the balance says.

Move on only when the earlier stage is boring. Boredom on a demo means the mechanics are automatic, and boredom on a small account means your rules have become habit.

No verification, unlimited funds and no deadline on Elev8Trader make this an easy demo to recommend. The MT4 expiry of 8 days is the one trap. Weekend-only traders should practise on MT5 or Elev8Trader.

Illustrative case: Lina, 24, Davao

Lina opened an MT4 demo, practised for two weekends and skipped the third. Her login stopped working, since MT4 demos are deactivated after 8 idle days. She created an Elev8Trader demo with a $100 balance, which stayed active through a busy month at work.
