Both of these brokers sit offshore. No British regulator watches them, no Australian one either. When you read that, the instinct is to treat them as equally risky and pick on price.
That instinct is wrong, and this comparison is mostly about why.
Offshore brokers are not one thing. Some do the bare minimum their island regulator asks and no more. Others voluntarily buy protection for their customers that nobody is forcing them to buy. What a broker does when nobody is making it do anything tells you a great deal, and on that measure these two are not close.
Elev8 is the cheaper broker to trade with, and by a fair margin. That is real and it matters. But it is not the only thing that matters.

Check these on each broker’s own site before you trust them. RoboForex quotes its raw commission differently in different places, and gaps move through the day, so treat these as normal-hours figures.
Which Broker Is Safer?
Neither is watched by a strict regulator. Start there, because no amount of detail changes it.
RoboForex is registered with the FSC in Belize, which is a light-touch offshore regulator. Elev8 is registered with the FSC in Mauritius and MISA in the Comoros, both also offshore. If either company collapsed, no government body would be lining up to repay you.
Now the difference, and it is the reason this page exists.
RoboForex has bought protection it did not have to buy. It is a member of the Financial Commission, an independent body that can order a broker to compensate a client, with cover of up to €20,000 per verified claim. It also carries €2.5 million in civil liability insurance. Neither of those is required by Belize. RoboForex chose to pay for them. It keeps client money separate from company money and offers negative balance protection, and it has run under the same name since 2009 with no legal cloud over it.
Elev8 has bought none of that. It keeps client money separate and offers negative balance protection, which is the standard minimum. There is no compensation scheme behind it and no published insurance. Reviewers who opened live accounts found its pricing honest and its platform good, and that counts for something. But if the company failed, there is nothing to claim against.
That gap is the single biggest fact on this page. Two offshore brokers, and one has arranged a way for you to be repaid while the other has not.
The Octa background
There is more, and you should have it before you deposit.
Elev8 is not a new company. Until 9 February 2026 it traded as Octa, a broker widely used across Southeast Asia and Africa. The rebrand changed the name and logo. The company, systems and ownership stayed the same.
India’s Enforcement Directorate has filed charges against OctaFX and its founder, Pavel Prozorov, alleging the business ran a large-scale pyramid scheme. Indian authorities froze linked assets, and Prozorov was reported arrested in Spain. Octa has consistently denied the allegations.
Be fair about this. They are allegations, not convictions. No court has ruled. Plenty of firms face charges that come to nothing, and calling Elev8 a scam on this basis would be wrong.
But two facts sit beside them. Industry press has noted that the rebrand’s timing lines up with the legal pressure. And Octa’s European arm, the one watched by CySEC, did not come across to Elev8. So Elev8 today is fully offshore, where the group behind it previously had a European-regulated branch. That is a move away from oversight.
Put the two together. RoboForex is an offshore broker that paid for compensation cover and insurance and has kept the same name for sixteen years. Elev8 is an offshore broker with no compensation cover that renamed itself in February 2026 while its founder faced pyramid scheme charges, leaving its European licence behind on the way.
Elev8 may treat you perfectly well. The point is what you are trusting, and how much of it is written down.
[Your own test: request a small withdrawal from each and record how long it takes. With two offshore brokers, this is the most useful thing you can show a reader.]
Trading Costs
Elev8 wins on the account a beginner uses, and the margin is real.
Elev8 charges about 0.7 pips on EUR/USD with no commission on anything. RoboForex’s commission-free Pro account starts at 1.3 pips. So for someone trading without commission, Elev8 costs roughly half.
Two qualifications, both honest. Elev8’s pricing on indices and oil runs above the industry average, so the cheap headline does not apply across the board. And RoboForex offers raw accounts, where the gap drops to almost nothing and you pay about $2 a lot, which is cheap by any standard. Elev8 has no raw account at all.
That matters as you improve. A beginner trading commission-free is better off at Elev8. Someone trading often enough to use a raw account is likely better off at RoboForex. Elev8 has no upgrade path on pricing, and RoboForex does.
Neither charges you for leaving your account idle, which is a small kindness plenty of brokers skip.
No Overnight Fees
This is Elev8’s real, distinctive advantage.
Most brokers charge a swap for holding a trade overnight, and over a week it quietly mounts up. Elev8 charges nothing, on every instrument, without you asking. One reviewer calculated the saving on a standard EUR/USD position held seven nights at over $60 against a typical broker.
If you hold trades for days or weeks, that may outweigh most of this page. It also suits Muslim traders who need swap-free conditions, with no application needed.
RoboForex charges swaps normally.
If you close every trade before bed, this does not apply to you.
What You Can Trade
RoboForex advertises over 12,000 markets. Elev8 offers about 260. Read the catch before that settles anything.
Nearly all of RoboForex’s range lives inside R StocksTrader, its own platform, which is where the thousands of real shares and funds come from. Stick to MT4 or MT5 and you drop to roughly a hundred or so markets, which is fewer than you might expect.
So the 12,000 figure is real, but only if you use RoboForex’s own software rather than MetaTrader. Worth knowing before it impresses you.
Elev8’s 260 covers 52 currency pairs, some crypto, a little gold and oil, and around 150 share CFDs. For learning forex, that is plenty. You will not run out.
RoboForex also gives you free VPS hosting for automated strategies. Elev8 offers no VPS at all, which rules it out if you run trading robots.
Copy Trading
Both do this well, which is unusual.
RoboForex runs CopyFX, free to use, where you browse traders and copy them automatically. Elev8 carries over Octa’s Master Trader system, which works much the same way and sits at the centre of its platform.
Call it a draw.
One warning for both. Copying someone does not remove risk, it moves it. You can lose money following another trader exactly as fast as trading yourself, and the huge returns on some profiles are advertising, not a promise.
Leverage
RoboForex offers up to 1:2000. Elev8 offers up to 1:1000.
Neither is a gift, and RoboForex’s bigger number is not a win. Leverage grows your losses exactly as fast as your wins, and heavy leverage is the fastest way a beginner empties an account. Notice that neither broker has a strict regulator, and both offer leverage no strict regulator would permit. Those facts are connected.
Use a small fraction of whatever you are offered, at either.
Final Verdict
Take RoboForex. Among two offshore brokers, it is the one that paid for compensation cover and insurance when nobody made it, kept the same name for sixteen years, and has no legal cloud over it. It also gives you free VPS, raw accounts to grow into, and thousands of real shares if you use its own platform. You pay about twice as much per trade commission-free, and that is a genuine cost.
Take Elev8 if that cost is what matters most to you, or if you hold trades overnight. Half the spread, no swap fees, nothing to deposit or withdraw. Its platform is well liked and reviewers who tested it with real money came away positive. Those are real advantages and it would be dishonest to wave them away.
But understand the swap you are making. You are paying less per trade in exchange for no compensation scheme, no insurance, no VPS, no raw account to grow into, and a company that changed its name in February 2026 while its founder faced pyramid scheme charges in India. Those charges are unproven and denied, and you are entitled to weigh them and shrug.
If you do pick Elev8, keep the balance small and test a withdrawal early. That advice holds at both, but it holds harder at the broker with nothing behind it.
FAQ
Which is cheaper, RoboForex or Elev8? Elev8, on the beginner account. About 0.7 pips on EUR/USD against RoboForex’s 1.3. RoboForex is cheaper once you move to a raw account, at about $2 a lot, and Elev8 has no raw account at all.
Which is safer? Neither is watched by a strict regulator. But RoboForex has voluntarily bought Financial Commission cover of up to €20,000 per claim plus €2.5 million in insurance, and Elev8 has bought nothing comparable. On that basis RoboForex is the safer of the two.
Is Elev8 the same as Octa? Yes. Elev8 is Octa renamed, effective 9 February 2026. Same company, systems and ownership. Existing accounts moved across automatically.
Which is better for holding trades overnight? Elev8, clearly. It charges no overnight fees on anything, without you applying. RoboForex charges swaps normally.
Can I run trading robots at both? At RoboForex, yes, and it gives you free VPS hosting. Elev8 has no VPS, which makes it a poor fit for automated strategies.
Which is better for a complete beginner? RoboForex, despite costing more per trade. The compensation cover, the insurance and the clean sixteen-year record are worth more than the spread you save.
